Firstly ....... WELCOME TO ZEXPO 2011 .....
On behalf of the Zindra Expo group, and all of the supporters, contributors and participants that made this show possible, I'd like to welcome all of you ...
... to this year: ZEXPO 2011: The Forbidden Carnival! .....
..... While this show took at least 3 months to plan and produce, ZEXPO really represents at least 18 months of hard work, hundreds of residents who began a foundation of hope ......
..... Slowly but carefully, these residents have come together, partnering with Linden Labs, to create a new and vibrant vision that develops and promotes the mainland of Zindra ......
..... This 'era of cooperation' has led to many programs, including the seasonal events on this island, and is a reminder that people with creativity, innovation and positive ideas can collaborate and make a difference that impacts the world around them .....
.... We had 3 main principles in mind when we designed ZEXPO 2011, and we tried to carry these through every step of the way .....
..... 1. Defining 'Adult' as Sophistication ........
...... What is Adult? That question often appears when topics of SL maturity ratings are present. For us, we are aligning with the 'new direction' that LL is currently taking with regards to marketing the adult side of Second Life .....
...... While children have the wondrous sense they can do anything, adults have learned practical sense of how they might achieve it. Children may enjoy the playground, but adults will have learned how to provide a better one for their children. Adults can make a difference in the world in which they grew up. ....
...... For us, Adult means liberation that can lead to a more liberating world, and that means a sophisticated world filled with opportunity ...... This is the 'new (and very marketable) direction' .....
..... 2. Active Investment .....
...... We employed a novel technique in this show ....... the amount of display space for each exhibitor was directly related to the amount of interactive content the exhibitor provided ......
...... Instead of buying space, or making all spaces equal, we rewarded those who were the most 'actively invested' ....
...... This did 2 things: it provided a healthy mix of large and small companies ... which some would say creates a positive business climate ........ and it created a more interactive experience for guests .....
.... 3. Pro Zindra ......
..... The adult mainland of Zindra is very significant and this show is designed to celebrate the excitement and innovation this mainland represents. Certainly not all of the content here is FROM Zindra, but the point is that these exhibitors have COME to Zindra to be in this show .... Zindra is the place where it all happens .........
..... We believe that a healthy Second Life will increasingly depend on adult residents ..... which means a healthy Adult SL ..... which means a healthy Adult mainland ... Zindra .....
.... So ..... please make sure you have a copy of the ZEXPO 2011 Ultimate Guide. Use it to visit the many Attractions, catch the Events and see the Exhibitors. There is so much to do here .....
.... and if you like the direction that this show represents, the boundless creativity and innovation, the enlightened approach to the world of adults, and the importance of a healthy Zindra to the rest of SL ..... please tell others about it ... spread the word ...... tell LL in your own way .....
.... the future can be more than a promise ...... as adults, we can build it together ....
